San Sebastian ends campaign with rout of JRU

San Sebastian gave itself a fitting farewell, hammering Jose Rizal University, 85-58, Thursday in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Golden Stags wrapped up their year with an 8-10 mark, losing only twice in the second round.

“We jelled very late, but still ang maganda doon is everybody doesn’t want to lose anymore,” said coach Egay Macaraya. “Nakikita na ang hardwork and intensity ng mga bata. Hopefully, we bring it to Season 93.
Thank God, natututo na manalo ang San Sebastian.”

Allyn Bulanadi topped the Golden Stags with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Ryan Costelo got 13 markers, six assists, and five boards.

Calisaan also added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Alvin Capobres had 12.

San Sebastian dominated the game early, holding a 17-point edge, 51-34, at one point, before Paolo Pontejos willed JRU back and trimmed the lead down to nine, 53-45.

Bulanadi and Calisaan, though, restored order and brought the Golden Stags back to an 18-point lead, 63-45, after the third period en route to the a 27-point blowout.

JRU ended its disappointing season at an even 9-9 slate, good for fifth place.

Pontejos wrapped up his collegiate career with 14 points and six rebounds, while Abdel Poutouochi had 10 markers, five boards, and four assists in the defeat.
