“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey’s 10-month hiatus from the octagon is reportedly drawing near,  as a comeback fight might be in the works by yearend, according to her trainer Edmond Tarverdyan over ESPN.

The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion hasn’t fought since November last year after losing her title in devastating fashion against Holy Holm at UFC 193.

On Thursday (Friday in Manila), Tarverdyan echoed UFC President Dana White’s sentiments about a possible women’s bantamweight title bout between Rousey and the current titleholder, Amanda Nunes.

“There have been talks about her coming back, but we haven’t made a final decision yet,” he confirmed.  “There’s a chance she fights to get her belt back this year, but nothing is set yet. If we do make a comeback this year, we will. If not we will make it next year.”

Despite the uncertainty of a target date, the outspoken coach guaranteed that Rousey would once again bring her A-game once she sees foot in the cage.

“We want to thank all our fans for being patient. When she does come back, we promise the best Ronda Rousey that anyone has ever seen,” he said.

Regarded as the face of women’s MMA, Rousey (12-1) ravaged through the entire women’s division and laid waste to a multitude of talented challengers. She managed to pull off six straight title defenses before her shocking knockout defeat against Holm.

Aside from a potential scrap with Nunes, fans are also clamoring for a bout between Rousey and longtime rival Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who is currently scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 95 against Lina Lansberg on Sept. 24.

If the former champion does indeed return in 2016, her comeback bout will likely be scheduled for the promotion’s last event of the year, UFC 207. The card is scheduled on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Khristian Ibarrola
