RACHEL Anne Daquis, one of the most recognizable faces in Philippine volleyball, is now taking on a big task as Philippine Superliga-Manila team captain.

The 27-year-old Daquis was tasked by PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara to skipper the team seeing action in the FIVB Women’s Club Championship.

Suzara cited Daquis’ leadership quality and ability to connect with both local and foreign players in the team as reasons for her selection.

“This is a newly-formed team and chemistry is premium. We need to develop it as soon as possible,” said Suzara of the country’s team to the meet slated Oct. 18 to 23 at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Suzara visited the team practice Friday morning along with PSL chair Philip Ella Juico and Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas vice president Pete Cayco at Arellano University Gym.

There they presented six of the seven foreign reinforcements, who practiced together for the first time.

The imports present were Tinchaya Boonlert of Thailand, Ekaterina Krivets and Yevgeniya Nyukhalova of Ukraine, Lindsay Stalzer and Stephanie Niemer of the United States and Yuri Fukuda of Japan.
