Cardinals win World Series championship

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series title on Friday by defeating the Texas Rangers 6-2 and capturing Major League Baseball’s best-of-seven championship final four games to three.

The Cardinals captured the 11th World Series crown in franchise history by finishing off the Rangers in front of a sold-out crowd at Busch Stadium. Only the New York Yankees have more World Series titles with 27.

St. Louis rallied from a 3-2 deficit in the series, winning the last two games at home to capture the championship for the second time in five years.
