Perlas Pilipinas turned back Indonesia, 72-56, Friday before it faces host Malaysia in a battle of the undefeated teams in the SEABA Women’s Championship in Melacca.
The Filipinos exacted revenge on the Indonesians, who sent them to a runner up finish in last year’s Southeast Asian Games, while hiking their record to 4-0 going into their virtual title match against the Malaysians Saturday night.
“They have this belief that they won against us in the SEA Games and they can beat us again. But we came prepared also. But it’s payback time,” said head coach Pat Aquino.
Allana Lim finished with a near double-double performance of 24 points and nine rebounds while Cindy Resultay contributed 15 for the Filipinos.
Perlas is looking to take home the crown and end a six-year drought in the tournament. Celest Flores-Colina
