Surprising FEU on Sunday, UP coach Bo Perasol thinks that his team could have won the game had his players made their free throws.

“It didn’t help that we missed 13 free throws,” Perasol said, citing the Fighting Maroons’ 15-of-28 shooting from the charity stripe with Paul Desiderio alone going 8-of-15 from the free throw line.

UP went on to drop the game, 51-49 as it fell to its fourth defeat in five games.

Still, Perasol lauded the Fighting Maroons for the way the team played against the defending champions.

“Ironically, I think we built a lot of momentum. The way we played, I think we really played well. Sinabi ko nga sa kanila, it should have been capped off with a win. Yung tempo ng laro, medyo maganda for us,” he said. “It’s just that there were a lot of things that we were not able to do in the end.”

Perasol is optimistic of what the future holds for UP as he sees the gradual improvement from his players as the season goes.

“We understand where we came from. The last three losses namin, malaki yung naging improvement namin. Probably because medyo naging healthy na rin si (Dave) Moralde and we have additional firepower. Yun naman ang importante,” he said.

The Fighting Maroons take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday.
