Heartbreaking could even be an understatement.

Mighty Sports Philippines yielded the championship game to Shanghai Sharks, 78-77, on three free throws by former NBA veteran Jimmer Fredette with no time left in the 2016 Merlion Cup Sunday before a packed crowd at OCBC Arena in Singapore.

Mighty Sports, a professional sports team powered by imports, blew a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter and was held scoreless for over three minutes as the Chinese club stole the game away after a wild windup.
Kiefer Ravena’s four-point play over Fredette put Mighty Sports ahead, 77-73, with over three minutes remaining.
But Fredette, who last played for the New York Knicks in the 2015-16 NBA season, had the final say after he was fouled at the buzzer and calmly burying three freebies.
The thrilling finish was eerily similar to Gilas Pilipinas’ win over China in the 2014 Fiba Asia Cup where Paul Lee also sank three free throws with triple zeroes on the clock.
