Duterte names Escandor presidential aide on sports
PRESIDENT Duterte has stepped up his campaign to improve the state of Philippine sports by appointing another Davao businessman to the post of Presidential Assistant for Sports.
Duterte named Glenn Escandor as his aide on a consultative capacity. He earlier named Dennis Uy, owner of Phoenix Petroleum, as presidential adviser on sports.
Article continues after this advertisement“My marching order is to assist him (Duterte) on sports matters knowing fully well the dynamics existing in the sports landscape,” said Escandor.
Elected recently as area director and board member of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Escandor, 47, said his role will not run in conflict with the policies of the Philippine Sports Commission, which is chaired by William Ramirez.
Escandor will serve pro bono.
