Fernando, Inguito split U’bone, Scooter plums
MASATO Fernando pipped John Emerson Inguito by just 0.076 of a second to put away his fourth victory in the 150cc Open race of the 2016 FDR Underbone King Championship Series at Batangas Racing Circuit over the weekend.
But Fernando failed in his bid for a third straight sweep of the races, bowing to reigning champion Inguito by 0.216 of a second in the 2016 FDR Philippine Scooter Racing Championship Series.
The victory allowed Fernando to raise his overall points total going to the final leg of the Underbone series to 130.5 and pull away from Inguito, who had 122.
Article continues after this advertisementApril King Mascardo finished third, just ahead of James Mendez and Paul Mark Doblada.
Inguito moved within 1.5 points off Fernando in the 180 PSR class of the Scooter series, 128.5-130, as he overcame the latter’s fastest time of 1:56.689.
Tracy Soyangco settled for third spot followed by Dustin Esguerra and Aljon Valencia.
