For a coach handling a struggling team, there’s nothing more to do but continue motivating your players no matter what you’re going through.
And that’s what Bo Perasol is doing for University of the Philippines.

“As a coach you’ll be disappointed, frustrated pero these are guys na nabugbog before pa,” said Perasol as the Fighting Maroons dipped to 1-5.
“There’s a middle ground, I have a responsibility to you but you also have a responsibility so let’s make it happen. Kailangan lang ng inspiration kasi laging nakayuko feeling nila hindi nila kaya.”

The Fighting Maroons were only trailing 58-54 against the Blue Eagles in the third quarter, but they eventually whittled in the fourth when Ateneo outscored them 21-10.
Perasol added his role as a coach is to not just win games but also uplift the spirits of his team who’s never had a winning record for more than 10 years.
“My job as a coach is to inspire them every time, that ‘hey we can do this, we can win despite our win-loss slate,” said Perasol.
