Even Davon Potts admits that Perpetual succeeded in shutting down San Beda.
“They did a very good job playing defense. They scouted well coming to the game,” he said after the Red Lions’ 87-83 Game 1 defeat to the Altas on Friday in the NCAA Season 92 Final Four.
San Beda felt the wrath of the league’s best defensive team, shooting below average at 40-percent from the field, a huge discrepancy from Perpetual’s 60-percent clip.

“Honestly, that was one of our worst games the whole year,” said Potts.
The Fil-Am scorer also said that the one of the keys to their doom was the Red Lions’ lackadaisical defense, something which he hopes they could fix come Game 2.
“We just got to adjust our press a little bit, make sure they don’t have open passing lanes. We got to contain Bright (Akhuetie) a little bit more. We got to stay collected and take accountability for our defense,” he said.

Despite the loss, Potts is keeping his head up as San Beda seeks to finish the job on Tuesday.
“We just got to stay together, execute our plays, and if we play together as a team, make the extra pass, make the extra adjustment, we’ll be alright going forward,” he said.
“We’ll just make our adjustments in our next practices and be ready for Tuesday.”
