He may not have ended his collegiate career with a title, but CJ Isit still feels he did everything he could to make his stay in Mapua worthwhile.
“I can’t say we accomplished what we had set out for, but I definitely gave my all so no regrets there,” he said after the Cardinals’ 92-80 defeat to Arellano in the semifinals that ended their campaign on Friday.
Isit’s collegiate career ended unceremoniously with a bloodied left eye after falling down hard with 9.8 seconds to go in the third quarter as he gambled on a steal on Dioncee Holts. The Arellano big man’s right forearm inadvertently caught Isit’s eye, causing him to fall hard and leaving him bloodied.
He no longer returned to the game, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists in his final game in a Mapua jersey.
Isit said that he didn’t see what happened, but understands that everything was just part of the game.
“I’m not sure but I got kind of wiped out and cut me open and that took me out. I’m definitely disappointed but that happens,” he said.
The Fil-Canadian guard, though, is looking forward for the next chapter of his career.
“Maybe I’ll take a little break, a little vacation, a little getaway. I’m about to go to the hospital, get some stitches, get some meds cause my head is hurting,” he said.
“But definitely the D-League. I want to play a couple of conferences, and then apply for the Draft next year.”
Though Isit has already planned his journey, he still believes that he still has loads to improve on as he
prepares to go to the pros.
“I still got ways to go, areas that need improvement,” he said. “That’s going to take work, nothing’s given so I’m definitely up for the challenge as always.”/rga
