La Salle will lose its long-time leader for about a week, forcing the Archers to put a lot of load on their super rookie.
Already without suspended coach Aldin Ayo, La Salle goes into its matchup against rival Ateneo today minus Jeron Teng, who is expected to miss a week due to bone spurs.
So prized recruit Ben Mbala, who leads the league in points, rebounds and blocks (see graphic) will need to step up some more.
“I’m just trying my best to do my job,” said the 6-foot-7 Cameroonian. “And my job is to protect the paint, grab the rebounds, run the floor and make it easier for my teammates by giving them screens.”
“[The situation] does not change anything,” said Prince Rivero. “Our system is not just for one person, but to help each other out.”
