Sitting out La Salle’s much-anticipated duel against Ateneo on Sunday, Jeron Teng admitted feeling envious of his teammates as the two rival schools played each other for the first time in UAAP Season 79.
“Siyempre, medyo nainggit ako. Gusto ko sana maglaro, pero yun nga, parang na-inspire na lang ako sa kanila kasi nag-enjoy lang sila,” Teng said.
The Green Archers, though, didn’t look like they missed the services of their star forward as they eviscerated the Blue Eagles, 97-81, to complete a seven-game first round sweep.
“It’s really a good game and it’s really fun seeing my teammates having fun inside the court. I just can’t wait to come back,” he said.
Fortunately for the senior, his wait may not be that long as he seeks to return to action come the second round.
“Actually, di ko pa alam. Babalik pa lang ako bukas para magpa-check up. Day-to-day basis pa eh. Next game, hopefully, makalaro na ako,” he said.
Teng underwent surgery to remove bone spurs in his left foot, deeming him unavailable for Sunday’s tiff.
“Since preseason pa ito eh. Yung mga previous games, medyo iniinda ko pa talaga,” he said. “I just want to be 100 percent pagdating ng crucial games ng second round at pagtapos ng second round.”
