THE PHILIPPINE Sports Institute will work on an initial budget of P25 million when it begins operating early this month.
Philippine Sports Commission Chair William Ramirez said the amount would cover the entire operations of the PSI, including regional training centers across the country, on a monthly basis.
Ramirez said Vigan would be tapped for track and field, Davao for swimming and diving, Dumaguete for archery, Zamboanga for weightlifting, Bacolod for boxing and Baguio for track and field and combat sports, among others.
The Philsports Complex in Pasig will become the nerve center of the PSI, which tapped strength and conditioning expert Mark Velasco as national training director.
