Kim nips Anton in kart photo finish
JARRED Kim pipped his fiercest rival Iñigo Anton at the line to bag his fourth consecutive victory in the Mini-ROK XCS class of the 2016 Petron Tri-Activ ROK Karting Super Series at Clark International Speedway over the weekend.
Kim, the top entry of Empire-Red Bull Racing, bested Anton of Edgesport Racing by a mere 0.115 of a second in the hotly-disputed fourth leg to move closer to the overall title.
Zachary David settled for third in the nine-lap race despite topping the Qualifying and Pre-Final races, followed by Joharry Suba at fourth spot.
Article continues after this advertisementThe photo-finish victory raised Kim’s series total to 485 points, 127 clear of the second-running David (358). Anton lay third with 276, his title bid hurt by his absence in the Palawan leg.
Khazart Romoff clinched a victory double for Empire-Red Bull Racing by ruling both the Formula Cadet Novice Ultron race over William Go and Junho Kim and the Cebu Club Race over Go and Miguel Angeles.
Kim and Anton alternated four times in the lead starting in the third lap of the Final race but Kim claimed the checkered flag off a fine maneuver going into the final straight. Steve Silva, motorsports contributor
