Gov’t throws full support behind FIVB hosting

President Duterte has issued a memorandum circular tasking all government agencies concerned to throw their support to the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship set from Oct. 18 to 23 at Mall of Asia Arena.

Executive Sec. Salvador Medialdea said according to memorandum circular No. 9, agencies like Philippine Sports Commission, Bureau of Customs, Department of Transportation and Communication, Department of Tourism, Bureau of Immigration and Metro Manila Development Authority should lend help with the staging of the FIVB Clubs.

“This is to direct all government agencies and instrumentalities, including government owned and controlled corporations and encouraging local government units, to extend support (to the FIVB Clubs),” Medialdea said.

“This will be an opportunity to further recognize of the Philippines as a world-class venue for international sporting event.”

The circular is effective immediately.

PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara welcomed this positive development, saying that the full government support will make them flexible in making the tournament a success.

The Philippine National Police has earlier assured the meet organizers to put up a security plan that could match in scale the country’s hosting of the Asia Pacific Economic Summit and the Papal visit.
