When University of Santo Tomas’ head coach Kung Fu Reyes called for a closer, he found one in an unexpected individual.
Dimdim Pacres, the Golden Tigresses’ substitute opposite spiker, hadn’t played a single minute of in her team’s first two games in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference, but when Reyes called her number she did not hesitate to deliver.
“Past few games wala akong laro and sabi ni coach bawi so ito na yung time para mag shine,” said Pacres Saturday after UST’s 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 win at Philsports Arena. “Pagdating ng laro, makakabawi ako.”

She may have just scored four points, but she made those in the most opportune time.
Pacres scored three of the Golden Tigresses’ last five points including the match-winning hit that brought UST’s record to 3-0.
“Hindi naman po ako pressured kasi ni-ready ko na sarili ko, and confident lang ako and tiwala lang,” said Pacres.
