Jayson Castro has solidified himself as one of the greatest guards of his generation, but he knows there’s still another trophy he wants to add to his cabinet.

Castro on Sunday was awarded with his fourth Best Player of the Conference award after leading TNT to a 10-1 record and to the semifinals of the PBA Governors’ Cup but what the 30-year-old is really aiming for is another championship.

“Lahat naman siguro ng player gustong yun nga, makuha yung (MVP) award na yun pero sa akin, iniisip ko, especially ako, kung paano makapasok ng finals yung team ko. Kasi kapag nakapasok ng finals, lahat parang andun na,” Castro told reporters.

“Kung talagang para sa’yo, ibibigay talaga. So yun ang motivation ko sa sarili ko, na all-Filipino or Governors’ or Commissioner’s cup, gusto ko makapasok ng finals.”

Castro and the KaTropa faltered in the semis after losing to Meralco in four games.

The 30-year-old Castro edged reigning back-to-back MVP June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer for the plum.
