Returning to the sidelines after his one-game suspension, La Salle coach Aldin Ayo could only beam with pride seeing how his crew handled his absence.

Without him barking instructions, the Green Archers still manhandled fierce rival Ateneo, 97-81, last week before turning back Adamson, 86-79, in his return on Sunday.

Ayo shared he was happy seeing how great his system was implemented by his players, saying, “You become proud of them kasi even without you, those guys are performing.”

“Yun naman yung sistema namin. Sabi ko sa kanila, you were left alone in your house and what are you going to do? Are you going to throw up a party because your parents are not there? Or are you going to do the dishes, clean the house, and be responsible? The good thing is they were responsible on that game and they’ve proven that they are really responsible individuals. Kahit wala ako, tatakbo sila at tatakbo.”

La Salle continued that stretch on the game against Adamson, where Ayo praised his players for making big time decisions in the closely-contested tiff.

“Yung mga ganung klase ng laro, doon namin gustong ipasok yung pagiging spontaneous ng mga bata. As much as posisble, we allow them to play basketball. We allow them to make decisions and just go with the flow. The good thing is they responded and kept on playing,” he said.

Ayo believes he’s seeing great things with his crew now that he’s convinced that whatever the opposition throws, the Green Archers will always revert to the things that made them 8-0 this UAAP Season 79.

“Even if anuman yung sitwasyon, hindi kami aalis sa sistema namin. Gusto namin palagi yung ganoong pace, mabilisan,” he said.
