Laoag overcame a lethargic first set to turn back Philippine Air Force, 20-25, 26-24, 25-21, 26-24, Wednesday night and register its second win in the Shakeys V-League Reinforced Conference at Philsports Arena.

The Power Smashers bounced from a defeat at the hands of Bureau of Customs last week where Alyssa Valdez dumped a league-record 39 points.

Laoag coach Nes Pamilar said it took them one bonding session to get over that loss and also to get familiar with each other.

“We are still trying to get used to playing with one another, most of them are still too shy playing with new teammates,” said Pamilar.

He was referring to new recruits Gretchel Soltones, Jorelle Singh, Aiko Urdas and Alyssa Eroa.

Yet against the Jet Spikers, the Power Smashers needed to shake off an aggressive first set by PAF to get into their range.

Laoag is now at 2-1, while handing PAF its second defeat in three games, tying University of the Philippines.
