Bali Pure showed no love against former team captain Alyssa Valdez Wednesday night.
Using force against force, it pounded on Bureau of Customs, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21, Wednesday night to notch its first win in the Shakeys V-League Reinforced Conference at Philsports Arena.
Her former teammates Charo Soriano, Amy Ahomiro and Denden Lazaro ganged up on her through the instruction of her former coach Tai Bundit to fashion out the win in just over an hour.
“We’re not trying to stop Alyssa mainly, but we thought that if we managed to control Alyssa’s attacks maybe we have easier chance to win,” Soriano who briefly took over Bundit.
“And she did score a lot,” said Soriano.
True enough, Valdez still managed to score 16 points, helped up by Thai import Kanjana Kuthaisong.
But most of their heroics were for naught as the Transformers were scrambling to put up a fight amid the Water Defenders’ dominance.
Katherine Morrel topscored with 17 points for Bali Pure, while Ahomiro and Dzi Gervacio finished with 10 points each.
Bali Pure is now at 1-1 bouncing back from a stinging defeat at the hands of University of Santo Tomas.
Customs absorbed its first defeat in three games.
“Finally I get to see how she played (Valdez), she’s a great player so we had to think of ways to block her,” said Kaylee Manns, Bali Pure’s other import.
Bali Pure had 40 attacks in total against Customs’ 34, and had more digs 43-36.
