Angie King and Gabe Tayao will become the first Filipinos to race in F4 when they compete in the Formula 4 Southeast Asia Series at Clark International Speedway on Oct. 15 to 16.
Launched worldwide this year, Formula 4 is formed by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) —the world governing body of motorsports. With ongoing races held in various continents, it is now regarded as the entry level to Formula 1.
King, backed by Car Porn Racing, Victoria Court, Seaoil, DC and Gold’s Gym, is an accomplished drifter and well-known car enthusiast while 16-year-old Tayao was a multititled Asian karting champion who started his racing career at 11.
Prior to their Formula 4 debut, King and Tayao acquired training in Formula 3 cars under the Simraceway Driving Program in Sonoma, California, early this year.
Spearheaded by Triple A chair Peter Thompson, Formula 4 Southeast Asia heads off to Indonesia in November, Malaysia in December, and Thailand in January 2017.
