Russel Escoto has been ruled out of the 2016 Fiba 3×3 World Championship in Guangzhou, China after suffering a left shoulder injury on Wednesday.
The official Facebook account of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced the development, leaving the Philippines without any substitutes in the tournament.
Escoto hurt his shoulder in the country’s 21-19 opening win over Romania, but was immediately brought to a
nearby hospital.
That left the trio of Mac Belo, Glenn Khobuntin, and Karl Dehesa to duel against the veteran Spain later in the day, where the Filipinos fell, 16-21.
Currently tied at second in Pool C with an even 1-1 slate, the Philippines will face Hungary and Poland on Friday to wrap up its group stage assignment.
