The fans have spoken: Fajardo is their MVP
The statistical race isn’t close. Even the fans know who deserves this season’s Most Valuable Player award.
It’s June Mar Fajardo and it’s going to take a major reversal among voters to halt the San Miguel Beer superstar from claiming a third straight MVP trophy in today’s Leo Awards.
Article continues after this advertisementIn a poll conducted by Inquirer Sports over its official Twitter account, 52 percent of respondents said Fajardo is this season’s deserving MVP, beating Talk ‘N Text’s Jason Castro by 20 percentage points.
The third person in the poll, Alaska’s Calvin Abueva, drew 16 percent of the votes.
Fajardo also leads Castro by more than five points in the statistical race with his 38.8 average and is the only player in the top five bets to win a championship this season.
A total of 412 people took part in the poll, which lasted 24 hours.
Aside from statistical points, voting by the media and players also decides the MVP winner.
Players from the SMC group have reportedly cast their votes for Fajardo while several media members have expressed their preference for Fajardo, who can claim history by becoming the first player to win three straight MVP trophies.
