PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa had a rude welcome when he watched his first PBA game since he took the position as the leader of the country’s police when his favorite team Barangay Ginebra lost to Meralco in overtime in the Finals opener.
Memes immediately circulated across social media saying Dela Rosa gave Ginebra bad luck in Game 1 much to the sadness of the tough, but fun-loving, police chief.
“Nalungkot ako,” said Dela Rosa, who was in attendance for Game 5 at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday with the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup championship series tied at 2-2. “Kaya Game 2 hindi ako nanood, Game 3 hindi ako nanood baka ako uli dahilan.”
With the series knotted, Dela Rosa hopes the Gin Kings can finally capture the momentum.
“Sana tuluy-tuloy na ngayon ito.”
During halftime, Ginebra governor and team manager Alfrancis Chua gave Dela Rosa a Gin Kings jersey.
