Vince Carter on joining Slam Dunk contest: It’s possible

Vince Carter set the standard of showmanship during his legendary performance at the 2000 Slam Dunk competition, and nostalgic fans might actually witness an encore.

Heralded as one of, if not the greatest, dunkers of all time, the 39-year-old isn’t ruling out a potential return to the All Star game’s most popular attraction.

“It’s possible,” Carter told reporters.  “I don’t know if I could win, but I would make it interesting, to say the least.”

During the Memphis Grizzlies’ training camp last year, the 18-year veteran still measured an impressive vertical jump, comparable to the league’s young leapers.

Last year’s Slam Dunk duel between vicious dunkers Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon was one of the best contests in recent memory.

The pair are expected to once again return for next year’s festivities, and Carter’s potential appearance could make things even more interesting.  Khristian Ibarrola
