Jaworski praises both teams, but picks Ginebra to win crown

Robert Jaworski, arguably the PBA’s most influential figure in its history, praised both his former teams, Ginebra and Meralco, for their great showing in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.

But naturally, the PBA great had one bet to win it all.

“Today, there are no losers with the way they’ve played in the series, but I want Ginebra to win,” said Jaworski upon arriving at Smart Araneta Coliseum for Game 6.

“It’s amazing the competition has been so close and the attitude and decorum are fine.”

Ginebra, the team that was practically born from Jaworski’s “never-say-die” mentality, holds a 3-2 series lead over Meralco, the franchise the Big J played for in the Manila Industrial and Commerical Athletic Association.

After five games, the average winning margin has been five points with Ginebra’s 92-81 win in Game 5 the most lopsided so far, by this series’ standard.
