Pomi Casalmaggiore silenced a raucous home crowd and dispatched PSL-F2 Logistics Manila, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21, in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

PSL-F2 fell to a 0-2 and was relegated to the classification round while Pomi improved 2-1 and advanced to the semifinals as it took ownership of the second seed in Pool A.

Pomi head coach Giovanni Caprara said he was satisfied with the sweep of the Filipinos.

“I’m completely satisfied because we won 3-0 and we reached the semifinals which is our goal,” said Caprara.

PSL-F2 had control of the game midway through the third set with a 18-13 lead but Pomi slowly chipped away at the deficit and tied the score at 20-20.

And with the momentum swinging to the Italian club, PSL-F2 eventually faltered to the pressure.

Lucia Bosetti lead Pomi with 16 points while Valentina Tirozzi added 14.

Jaja Santiago had a team-high 11 points for PSL-F2 while Lindsay Stalzer and Stephanie Niemer had nine points apiece.
