Despite being the unanimous choice for the top selection in the Gilas section of the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft, Mac Belo is not resting on his laurels.

Belo, who was picked by Blackwater at no. 1 according to Inquirer’s Musong Castillo, still went hard at the 2016 Gatorade PBA Draft Combine like the other hopefuls.

“Ayoko rin makampante,” said the soft-spoken forward from Midsayap, North Cotabato. “Nanonood yung mga coaches, go hard din yung mga kasabayan ko kaya kailangan ko din magpakita.

With Ginebra coach Tim Cone, GlobalPort team consultant Franz Pumaren, Blackwater coach Leo Isaac, and Phoenix coach Ariel Vanguardia among some of the mentors in attendance on Thursday, Belo showed that he’s truly one of the best and athletic most amateur players in the country today.

“Masaya ako dahil nakikita ng coaches yung tinatrabaho ko. Masarap sa pakiramdam yung ganoon,” the 23-year-old said.

Belo, though, is not letting the compliments get to his head even when all eyes are on him.
