San Miguel Beer picked former La Salle center Arnold Van Opstal in the special Gilas Cadet pool Draft on Thursday afternoon.
The Beermen took the only available center in the cadet pool, potentially penciling Van Opstal as a backup to reigning three-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
The Inquirer earlier identified three players that found mother teams in the PBA via the special draft.
Mac Belo went to Blackwater, Kevin Ferrer was snagged by Barangay Ginebra and Filipino-American Matthew Wright was picked by Phoenix Petroleum.
Alaska, GlobalPort and TNT KaTropa have yet to decide on their respective selections as Von Pessumal, Fonso Gotladera and Carl Cruz are still on the table. They will make their selections today with the league to make the selections official in the Draft tomorrow.
Van Opstal skipped his final year with La Salle because of an injury and reportedly to train in the US.
Meanwhile, sources yesterday said that Jio Jalalon was selected by Star, with Roger Pogoy going to Meralco and Ed Daquioag, the former Santo Tomas Tiger, landing at NLEX.
Mike Tolomia, who formed Far Eastern’s dreaded 1-2-3 with Belo and Pogoy, was picked by Rain or Shine.
