The Philippine Sports Commission has started to identify 20 priority disciplines the government sports agency believes could snatch a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games.

PSC Chair William Ramirez said combat sports boxing, taekwondo, karatedo and weightlifting are possible medal contenders that could sustain the silver-medal performance of weightlifting’s Hidilyn Diaz in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

“We know that boxing, taekwondo, weightlifting and even karatedo are capable of delivering medals,” said Ramirez. “We’ll definitely go for the gold in the Tokyo Olympics.”
