MANILA, Philippines – Alabang completed its back-to-back title romp in the WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.) circuit as it posted two victories and a third place finish in the final leg at Sta. Elena Golf Club recently.
Needing just one third-place finish to wrap up the overall championship for the second straight year, the Alabang ladies instead turned in their most impressive performance in the eight-leg circuit, topping Classes A and B and placing third in Class C.
That closing seven-point burst gave Alabang a 42-point aggregate for a whopping 13-point victory over Tagaytay Highlands (29), more than quadrupling its three-point win over Canlubang in ruling the event last year.
Behind Marilyn Reyes’ 38 points, Eun Sil Jang and Ana Luisa’s pair of 37s, and Rita Horan’s 33 points under the Modified Stableford scoring format, Alabang pooled a 145 to hold off Villamor, which had a 143, for Class A honors.
Forest Hills finished third with a 140 followed by Sta. Elena (132), Orchard (131), Canlubang (127), Tagaytay Highlands (126), Riviera (125) and AFP (116).
The Muntinlupa-based squad also topped Class B, assembling a 146 as Lan Fen Hsieh fired 40 points, Lolita Arguelles and Marl Mendoza both shot 36 points and Rachel Shah added 34 points, to beat Sta. Elena, which nipped Forest Hills in the count back for runner-up honors.
