A three-man panel will decide Thursday on whether to allow boxing chief Ricky Vargas to challenge incumbent president Jose Cojuangco Jr. for the top Philippine Olympic Committee post.
Frank Elizalde, a former representative of the International Olympic Committee to the Philippines who heads the election committee, will hand down the judgment.
Cycling head and Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, Vargas’ running mate who is seeking the chairmanship, was also barred from running.
According to Elizalde, Vargas and Tolentino failed to attend 50 percent plus one of the total number of POC General Assemblies the past two years, hence their disqualification.
