Addison Russell of the newly crowned World Series champion Chicago Cubs is fifty percent Filipino.
The Cubs’ shortstop is born to a Filipino mother Milany, who he paid tribute to last Mothers’ Day in a post on MLB.com.

“My mom has always given some of the best advice that I can remember,” wrote Addison of his mom. “She told me, and I’m pretty sure she told Melissa [Addison’s wife] too, that a marriage is this thing you take care of.”
“You have to protect it and treat it with such care. You have to be able to grow it. My mom puts it in a way I can’t bring to life, but that’s basically what she says.”

Russell was pivotal in the Cubs’ comeback from a 3-1 series deficit.
In Game 6, His grand slam to left center field in the third inning gave the Cubs a 7-0 triumph that tied the series as the Chicago fateful in Wrigley Field celebrated.
Chicago would then take series in the seventh game, ending a 108-year curse.
