Former PBA player and University of the East star Reynaldo “Epoy” Alcantara passed away on October 28 at age 65.
He succumbed after a long bout with prostate cancer.

His remains lie at the Santuario de San Antonio inside the Forbes Park in Makati City.

A tall, steady guard, the 6-foot-2 Alcantara was a mainstay at UE where he played under mercurial coach Baby Dalupan in the UAAP, who would also be his mentor at Crispa in the amateur leagues.

Alcantara also played for Mariwasa from the PBA’s inaugural season in 1975 to 1979.

Alcantara worked with the Inquirer advertising department, where he had been well admired, after he retired from the PBA.
Interment will be on Friday, 3:00 p.m. at the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque.
