POC told: explain use of gov’t money

The Philippine Olympic Committee has yet to account for the almost P130 million funds received from the Philippine Sports Commission.

Sen. Sonny Angara, vice chair of the Senate committee on sports, is calling for an investigation on the alleged unliquidated P129.6 million released from 2010 to 2016 to the POC.

The inquiry will also look into the disqualification of boxing chief Ricky Vargas from seeking the POC presidency.
The election body said Vargas failed to attend at least 50 percent of the POC’s General Assemblies the past two years.
