Petron zoomed past F2 Logistics, 25-22, 25-10, 25-10, to take the lead in the standings of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix Thursday at San Juan Arena.

With the win, the Blaze Spikers improved to 5-1 for 16 points, two points ahead of streaking Foton, which has a 5-0 record and 14 points.

Serena Warner converted on back-to-back plays to close out the match for the Blaze Spikers.

First, Warner came up with a block on Mary Joy Baron to put Petron at 24-10 then attacked the Cargo Movers’ defense with a sweet quick hit to seal the win.

“Sobrang happy kami kasi ang ganda nung bounce back ng team and nasunod game plan namin na maging well-distributed ang bola,” said Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos.

Foton dealt Petron’s lone loss in the eliminations with a grueling five-setter, 25-18, 23-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-13.

“Kasi masyadong mababasa game plan namin pag limited na tao ang nabibigyan.”

And despite the imports’ carrying most of Petron’s offense, two locals also pitched in quality points for the league leaders.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Frances Molina combined for 14 points but it was still Stephanie Niemer who led the charge for Petron putting up 21 points, nine of which were service aces.

Warner had 11 points for her troubles.

Sydney Kemper had eight points to lead F2 Logistics.
