POC: We have nothing to hide

Olympic chief Jose Cojuangco Jr. welcomes the Senate inquiry on the P129.6-million financial assistance that the Philippine Olympic Committee received from the government.

“The inquiry will give us a chance to explain the funding that we received from the Philippine Sports Commission and the disqualification of some candidates in the coming (POC) elections,” said Cojuangco.

Sen. Sonny Angara, vice chair of the Senate committee on sports, wants to investigate alleged unliquidated POC funds for the past seven years.

“As far as we’re concerned, every peso has been well accounted for and we’re also in the process of liquidating other funds,” said Cojuangco.

Cojuangco will seek a fourth straight term as POC president on Nov. 25.
