SINGAPORE — Singapore’s Amir Khan beat Filipino bet Vaughn Donayre in his own game, winning by submission in their lightweight duel in ONE: Defending Honor Friday before a packed Singapore Indoor Stadium crowd here.

The hometown fans erupted the moment Donayre tapped out but the celebration could’ve easily been a heartbreak moments earlier when Khan barely survived a kimura late in the second round.

“He locked in the kimura and I felt like I’m gonna die,” said Khan.

The 37-year-old Donayre was a late replacement to Samir Mrabet, who got injured two weeks before the fight.

Donayre has now lost his fourth straight fight.
