Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is calling it a career.
The 30-year-old Tate announced her farewell from the sport in her post-match interview with Joe Rogan after losing to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 Sunday [Manila time] at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“I am announcing my retirement you guys,” said Tate after losing via unanimous decision. “I love you all so much. I have been doing this for more than a decade. It is the right time. It is because of the result. I have a lot more to give and I couldn’t get it out myself.”
Tate won the title back in UFC 197 after submitting Holly Holm.
She would, however, lose the gold to Amanda Nunes in her lone defense at UFC 200.
