PSC: Strengthen local reserves

The need for Filipino-foreign athletes will greatly diminish once the Philippine Sports Commission finds a steady source of athletes.

PSC Chair William Ramirez said the supply of athletes would definitely increase when the grassroots program of the government goes full blast through the Philippine Sports Institute.

“Strengthen the grassroots with the local government units and you will have an enormous reservoir of athletes,” said Ramirez.  “For our program to succeed, the LGUs must be there at the center.”

Davao Del Norte Gov. Anthony Del Rosario has pledged the province’s sports center in Tagum City, venue of the Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy National Championships on Nov. 27 to Dec. 2,  to house and develop athletes discovered in Mindanao.
