Star continued to show grit on the court, this time grinding out a 75-71 victory over Alaska in their tuneup game Tuesday at Gatorade Hoops Center in Shaw.
Rookie Jiovani Jalalon scored three of the Hotshots last five points in the clutch to tip the favor on their side, 73-71 with 11 seconds remaining.
Article continues after this advertisementMark Barroca then swiped the ball from JVee Casio in the ensuing possession as Jake Pascual finished the layup with four ticks to seal the deal.
Pascual topped Star with 14 points, while Aldrech Ramos fired 11, doing most of his damage in the third period comeback, where the Hotshots fought back from 13 points down.
Jalalon finished with five markers in the win, as coach Chito Victolero opted to rest Paul Lee.

Alaska also sat Calvin Abueva and Chris Banchero for the game, both nursing minor injuries.
