F2 Logistics scored a big win over the big team last night.
Closing all its corridors and fighting shot after shot, F2 Logistics toppled erstwhile unbeaten leader Foton, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at Imus Sports Complex in Cavite.
Aby Maraño was at the heart of the Cargo Movers’ staunch defense, scoring eight of her team’s 16 blocks that blunted the usually sharp offense of the Tornadoes, who now tote a 6-1 card.
Maraño totaled 16, while Hayley Spelman topscored with 23 points. Ara Galang and Cha Cruz chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, for F2.
It was a back-and-forth match with both teams making 53 attacks each. But the telling difference was Foton wasn’t able to match up in blocking, making only six.
F2 Logistics thus posted its fifth win in eight matches, but more than anything, boosted its morale, having recovered from a 0-2 start until Spelman arrived.
Earlier, RC Cola-Army consolidated its bid to make the semifinals after thrashing Cignal, 25-13, 25-15, 25-10.
The Lady Troopers upped their record to 3-4 while handing the HD Spikers their fifth defeat in six matches.
Jovelyn Gonzaga drilled in 15 points for RC Cola-Army, while Royse Tubino and import Haillie Ripley added nine and eight, respectively.
