De La Salle University is set to open the UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum while defending champions National University will perform as the closer.

The DLSU Pep Squad had its lone podium finish in 2013, placing third behind National University and University of the Philippines.

University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe will be the second performer and will be gunning for its record ninth title.

UST is the winningest school in Cheerdance history together with UP, which is skipping this year’s competition.

Ateneo, which is on a three-year streak of finishing at last place, will look to redeem its poor form as the third performer on Saturday and Far Eastern University, which has two gold medals in the event, will be the fourth.

Adamson University, which won its only silver medal in 2001, will follow the FEU Cheering Squad in the order of performers.

University of the East, the silver medal winners in 2002, will be the penultimate performer.
