Slowly getting its rhythm back, Ginebra routed GlobalPort, 102-81, Friday in their tuneup game at Upper Deck Gym in Ortigas.
Leaning on a strong start, the Gin Kings broke the game wide open early and held a 52-36 lead at halftime.
Sol Mercado paced Ginebra with 15 points, while Japeth Aguilar also had 15.
Rookie Kevin Ferrer got nine markers, while Joe Devance also registered nine in the victory.
“We played sound basketball today on both sides of the ball. We started well and we finished well,” said coach Tim Cone.
It was only Ginebra’s second tuneup game following its loss to Blackwater, 103-100 last Sunday.
Scottie Thompson played through fever and LBM, but Cone asked his sophomore to go home early in the fourth
quarter.
JR Quiñahan topped the Batang Poer with 13 points, while Nino Canaleta poured 12 markers.
Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle both had 10 in the defeat.
