Varilla’s stint as a Red Warrior was shorter than most UAAP athletes since he spent just three of the allotted five years for a student-athlete. He accumulated an overall record of 18-24.

His best season with UE was back in 2014 when the Red Warriors finished with an impressive 9-5 record but they fell to eventual champions National University for the fourth seed playoff.
