‘Dream chaser’ Varilla looks to enter D-League after UE career
Paul Varilla didn’t have the best of endings representing University of the East in the UAAP.
Losing to defending champions Far Eastern University, 64-61, in his final game stings but Varilla is eager to move on and continue his dreams of becoming a pro.

“I’ll graduate from school first, get my degree and continue to chase my dream,” said Varilla Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena. “D-League first and I hope I do well enough to get to the PBA.”
“I’m a dream chaser.”
Article continues after this advertisementVarilla’s stint as a Red Warrior was shorter than most UAAP athletes since he spent just three of the allotted five years for a student-athlete. He accumulated an overall record of 18-24.
His best season with UE was back in 2014 when the Red Warriors finished with an impressive 9-5 record but they fell to eventual champions National University for the fourth seed playoff.
