Boxing chief Ricky Vargas and cycling head Bambol Tolentino have sought a temporary restraining order against the Philippine Olympic Committee election set Nov. 25.
Vargas is challenging the POC elections committee’s decision to bar him from running on account of his absences during general assembly meetings.
Vargas filed the petition for TRO at Pasig Regional Trial Court.
“Mr. Vargas is seeking an injunctive relief in the form of a TRO and preliminary injunction to enjoin the POC from holding its elections on Nov. 25 until the legal controversy on the meaning of ‘active member’ is resolved,” said lawyer Chito Salud in a statement. “Allow Ricky Vargas to run. Give the NSAs and the athletes a choice.”
