A team mainly composed of players from Pocari Sweat once again foiled an Alyssa Valdez-led squad but it was all for a good cause.

Team Palaban trumped Valdez’ Team Puso 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-22, Sunday at Philsports Arena in the Shakey’s V-League All-Star game for the benefit of the survivors of supertyphoon “Lawin.”

Proceeds from the game will go to the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Operation Sagip which will directly help the survivors.

Valdez was overjoyed to play in a charity event that would benefit those who suffered the wrath of the supertyphoon which left more than a dozen people dead in northern Luzon late last month.

“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na nagkakaisa tayo para sa mga Pilipino na nabiktima ng Typhoon ‘Lawin’ at gusto natin sila mapasaya sa Pasko,” said Valdez.

Valdez’ Team Puso was composed of Dzi Gervacio (Bali Pure), Jema Galanza (Laoag), Wendy Semana (Philippine Air Force), Fem Emnas (Bureau of Customs), EJ Laure (University of Santo Tomas), Denden Lazaro (Bali Pure), Wenneth Eulalio (Laoag), Jocemer Tapic (Philippine Air Force), Nicole Tiamzon (University of the Philippines), and Elaine Kasilag (Pocari Sweat).

Myla Pablo (Pocari), Jia Morado (Ateneo), Melissa Gohing (Pocari), Amy Ahomiro (Bali Pure), Michele Gumabao (Pocari), Diana Carlos (UP), Isa Molde (UP), Marianne Buitre (UP), Gyzelle Sy (Pocari), Cherry Rondina (UST), and Ria Meneses (UST) made up Team Palaban.

Rondina produced the highlights of the charity game when she executed several cartwheels before going up for a spike and some serves in the fourth set and she also led Team Palaban with 13 points.

Amy Ahomiro and Isa Molde also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Tapic had 14 points for Team Puso while Valdez, who sat out most of the third set, had 12 points.
