St. Benilde beats Mapua for solo lead in NCAA women’s volley

Reigning titlist St. Benilde survived a third set meltdown to beat Mapua, 25-10, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, Wednesday and grab the solo lead in the NCAA Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament at Filoil Flying V Center.

Last year’s Finals MVP Jeanette Panaga fired a match-best 18 points including 13 kills as the Lady Blazers nailed their third win in a row after also surging past Perpetual Help and Letran.

The Lady Blazers got off to a strong start this time and easily handled the Lady Cardinals to take the first two sets

Panaga, however, took charge in the fourth and help St. Benilde to quash the Lady Cardinals’ uprising.
